Louis Liaw is a legal associate at RamRais & Partners, a firm in Kuala Lumpur established since 1973. His legal practice portfolio includes both civil dispute resolution and criminal defence. Occasionally he also works on public interest and human rights files.
Louis Liaw is a member of various Malaysian Bar’s Committees such as the National Young Lawyers and Pupils Committee and the Bar Council Constitutional Law Committee. Louis Liaw is also a conductor / trainer of the BCCLC ‘s flagship workshop, “Myconstitution”, and has conducted the workshops at numerous schools, non-profit organisations, and universities.
Louis is also an active member at the Kuala Lumpur Bar; Louis is an elected member of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee, and is the Chairperson of the KL Bar Publications Committee. Louis previously served as the Secretary General of the KL Young Lawyers Committee, in charge of the Networking portfolio.
Additionally, Louis frequently provides mooting training to university students and often invited as guest judge at various universities’ mooting competition. Louis also occasionally gets invited to speak on topics on career options / path at universities.
During his free time, Louis writes articles on legal and political issues and have had his articles published on Loyarburok, BurgieLaw, OfficeParrots, my blog louisliaw.wordpress.com and online news outlets such as MalaysiaKini and MalayMail online.
Louis is also a member lawyer of the Mackrell International Network, a global network of independent law firms with 90 member firms representing a total of 4500 lawyers and attorneys working out of 170 offices in 60 countries. He is the Chairperson of the Mackrell International Asia Pacific Region Young Lawyers Network.
Louis graduated from Cardiff University and is a Barrister – at – Law of the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s inn.
